A small note on paintings
Written by Mia-Nelle Drøschler
Color, to me, is the soul of my work. I see color as a spiritual force, I believe it possesses an innate power to communicate emotions that transcend language. Through the bold and spontaneous application of pigments, I aim to create an emotional resonance that resonates deep within the viewer’s soul.
My paintings is a manifestation of my innermost emotions and a celebration of the expressive power of color. Drawing inspiration from the abstract expressionist movement of the 1950s and the pioneering works of artist from that time.
At the heart of my painting practice lies a profound belief in the transformative nature of abstract expressionism. Through the interplay of vivid colors, I seek to capture the essence of the human experience and reveal the hidden landscapes of our subconscious minds. My paintings become portals to the intangible, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of introspection and self-discovery.
As I paint, I relinquish control to the elements of intuition, allowing the canvas to guide my hand and the colors to dictate the composition. It is a dance between the conscious and the subconscious, a delicate balance of planning and surrendering to the unknown. The act of painting becomes a cathartic experience, as I tap into my own emotions and allow them to shape the artwork.
I find inspiration in the freedom and spontaneity of the brushstroke, creating a visual language that transcends traditional representation. By building upon the foundations laid by these masters, I strive to contribute to the ongoing dialogue of abstract expressionism and its enduring relevance in the contemporary art world.
Ultimately, my paintings are an invitation for the viewer to embark on an internal search, to delve into the depths of their own emotions and allow the subconscious mind to shine through. Through the harmonious interplay of color, gesture, and intuition, I aspire to create a visual experience that sparks a profound connection between the viewer and the artwork, evoking a sense of wonder, contemplation, and self-discovery.

A SERIES OF ABSTRACT PAINTINGS
During a residency at Bethanien (DE) in 2018 I started a painterly abstract language. The abstract expressive painting is where Drøschler is today, she paints large scale in a high pace leaving the spectator with a strong inner vision. Drøschler claims that emotions are political and therefore uses her own personal emotions as a direct tool to create the abstract paintings. They are angry, sad, happy and joyful, just as the nature of the human being.
Over the years Drøschler has demonstrated a high level of experimentation in her paintings. From figuration till a more mediative approach to the canvas with a narrow palette and slow gesture she is now fully engaged in the abstract expressionistic paintings.
